Play. Learn. Grow.
Babies
Our Baby Room is a warm, nurturing, and stimulating environment designed to provide the very best care for babies from 3 months to 18 months. We understand that the early months are crucial for development, so our focus is on building strong attachments, encouraging sensory exploration, and supporting each baby's individual routine.
Toddlers
Our Toddler Room is designed to support the growing independence, curiosity, and energy of children aged 18 months to 2 years. At this exciting stage, toddlers are developing key skills in communication, physical movement, social interactions, and problem-solving, so we provide a stimulating and nurturing environment that encourages them to explore, learn, and thrive.
2 year olds
Our 2–3 Years Room is designed to nurture growing independence, curiosity, and confidence, providing a balance of structured learning and free play. At this stage, children are becoming more social, developing language skills, and exploring the world around them. Our caring team supports them in gaining new experiences, building friendships, and developing key life skills in a safe, stimulating, and engaging environment.

Pre-school
Our Pre-School Room is designed for children aged 3–5 years, providing a stimulating, engaging, and structured environment that prepares them for school and beyond. We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, combined with the Montessori Approach, ensuring children develop essential skills in communication, literacy, numeracy, and social interaction through play-based learning and guided activities.

Our Approach
At Playhouse Montessori, we combine elements of both the Montessori philosophy and the Early Years
Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework to create a holistic, child-centered approach that nurtures independence, curiosity, and a love for learning.
🌿 Montessori Approach
The Montessori method, developed by Dr. Maria Montessori, focuses on allowing children to learn at their own pace in a prepared environment that encourages independence, self-discipline, and hands-on exploration.
Key Montessori Principles We Follow:
✅ Child-Led Learning – Children choose activities based on their interests, fostering motivation and concentration.
✅ Independence & Practical Life Skills – Encouraging children to dress themselves, prepare snacks, and tidy up to build confidence.
✅ Hands-On Learning – Using sensory materials like wooden blocks, sandpaper letters, and number rods to develop fine motor and problem-solving skills.
✅ Mixed-Age Learning – Supporting collaboration, leadership, and peer learning by allowing children to interact across different age groups.
✅ Respect for the Child – Every child is treated as an individual with their own pace of learning.
Our Montessori-inspired activities include:
-
Practical life skills (pouring, buttoning, sweeping)
-
Sensorial exploration (touch, smell, sight, sound)
-
Language & numeracy through hands-on materials
-
Outdoor & nature-based learning
📚 EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) Framework
The EYFS framework, set by the UK government, ensures a structured approach to early years education, covering seven key areas of learning through play-based activities.
The EYFS Areas of Learning:
-
Communication & Language – Encouraging speech, listening, and early literacy.
-
Physical Development – Activities that develop coordination, movement, and healthy habits.
-
Personal, Social & Emotional Development – Building confidence, relationships, and emotional regulation.
-
Literacy – Early reading, phonics, storytelling, and mark-making.
-
Mathematics – Counting, sorting, measuring, and problem-solving.
-
Understanding the World – Exploring nature, cultures, and technology.
-
Expressive Arts & Design – Encouraging creativity through music, dance, and art.
Our EYFS-based activities include:
-
Daily circle time for storytelling, songs, and discussions.
-
Structured play activities designed to meet developmental milestones.
-
Observations and assessments to track each child’s progress.
🌟 The Best of Both Worlds
By combining Montessori principles with EYFS guidelines, we create a balanced learning environment that:
✔️ Supports independence and self-directed learning (Montessori).
✔️ Ensures a broad and structured curriculum (EYFS).
✔️ Encourages creativity, exploration, and social development.
✔️ Prepares children for school while respecting their individuality.
At Playhouse Montessori, we believe in nurturing the whole child, helping them develop into confident, curious, and capable learners in a safe, loving, and inspiring environment.
